DNA-directed RNA polymerase III subunit RPC4 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the POLR3D gene.{{cite journal | vauthors = Hu P, Wu S, Sun Y, Yuan CC, Kobayashi R, Myers MP, Hernandez N | title = Characterization of human RNA polymerase III identifies orthologues for Saccharomyces cerevisiae RNA polymerase III subunits | journal = Mol Cell Biol | volume = 22 | issue = 22 | pages = 8044–55 |date=Oct 2002 | pmid = 12391170 | pmc = 134740 | doi =10.1128/MCB.22.22.8044-8055.2002 | url = http://repository.cshl.edu/28722/1/Kobayashi%20Myers%20Hernandez%20Molecular%20and%20Cellular%20Biology%202002.pdf }}{{cite journal | vauthors = Chong SS, Hu P, Hernandez N | title = Reconstitution of transcription from the human U6 small nuclear RNA promoter with eight recombinant polypeptides and a partially purified RNA polymerase III complex | journal = J Biol Chem | volume = 276 | issue = 23 | pages = 20727–34 |date=Jun 2001 | pmid = 11279001 | doi = 10.1074/jbc.M100088200 | doi-access = free }}{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: POLR3D polymerase (RNA) III (DNA directed) polypeptide D, 44kDa| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=661}}
This gene complements a temperature-sensitive mutant isolated from the BHK-21 Syrian hamster cell line. It leads to a block in progression through the G1 phase of the cell cycle at nonpermissive temperatures.{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: POLR3D polymerase (RNA) III (DNA directed) polypeptide D, 44kDa| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=661}}
