The PSE Composite Index, or the PSEi (previously PHISIX), is a stock market index of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) always consisting of 30 of the largest companies traded on the stock exchange.{{cite web | url=http://www.pse.com.ph/stockMarket/marketInfo-marketActivity.html?tab=1 | title=The Philippine Stock Exchange | access-date=September 17, 2014}} This is in contrast to the PSE All Shares Index which is an index of all stocks traded on the PSE.

The highest closing value was 9,041.20 on Friday, January 26, 2018.{{cn|date=October 2023}} The highest intraday value was 9,078.37 on Monday, January 29, 2018.{{cn|date=October 2023}}

It is the PSE's only broad-base index and is seen as an indicator of the general state of the Philippine business climate,{{cite conference |first=Jeaneth Michelle L. |last=Balaba |title=Does the Stock market Drive the Philippine Economy? |url=http://www.dlsu.edu.ph/conferences/dlsu-research-congress-proceedings/2017/RVREBM/RVREBM-I-003.pdf |conference=DLSU Research Congress 2017 |conference-url=http://www.dlsu.edu.ph/conferences/dlsu_research_congress/2017/default.asp |date=June 20–22, 2017 |access-date=July 31, 2018}} although there is evidence the index may not be a reliable indicator of the state of the broader Philippine economy.{{cite news |author=Heydarian, Richard Javad |title=Philippine Stocks Crash: Symptom of Growing Economic Imbalances |work=HuffPost |date=March 20, 2013 |access-date=July 31, 2018 |url=https://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-javad-heydarian/philippine-stocks-crash-s_b_2900518.html }}

The PSE revises the list at least twice a year based upon requirements that include a minimum public float level of 20% (increased from 12% in 2018) and criteria for market liquidity and market capitalization.{{Cite news|url=http://bworldonline.com/no-change-pse-index-sectors-undergo-revamp/|title=No change in PSE index; sectors undergo revamp|last=Resane|first=Andrea Mei B.|date=February 13, 2018|work=BusinessWorld|access-date=March 27, 2018|language=en-US}}

Formula

The following formula is used by the PSE to calculate the index's value:

\mathsf{PSE\ Index_t={\textstyle \sum_{i=1}^n(P_i\times S_i\times F_i) \displaystyle\over\ b}\times PSE\ Index_{t-1}}{{Cite web |title=PSE Policy on Index Management |url=https://documents.pse.com.ph/wp-content/uploads/sites/15/2021/08/Policy-on-Index-Management-ver.-2021-clean.pdf }}

Where:

n = Total number of component companies (30)

\mathsf{P_i} = Closing price of company i at day t

\mathsf{S_i}= Available shares of company i at day t

\mathsf{F_i}= Company free float level (0 to 1), where 1 means 100% free float.

b = Free float-adjusted market capitalization base
