Geography

History

The name Pallara means flat land and is derived from a non-local Aboriginal word spelt with only one "l".{{cite book |title=150 years: Richlands, Inala & neighbouring suburbs in Brisbane's South West |last=Mynott |first=Wicki |year=2009 |publisher=Richlands, Inala & Suburbs History Group |pages=159–163}}

The suburb is relatively undeveloped with electricity supply only reaching Pallara in 1961.{{Citation needed|date=May 2022}}

Ritchie Road State School opened on 24 August 1959. In 1997, the Pallara Parklands were opened on a remediated dump.
