The SA1 statistical area had a population of 171 in the 2023 New Zealand census, a decrease of 3 people (−1.7%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 36 people (26.7%) since the 2013 census. Rangitihi had a population of 1,008 in the 2023 New Zealand census, an increase of 72 people (7.7%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 189 people (23.1%) since the 2013 census.
