A paracone is a 1960s atmospheric reentry or spaceflight mission abort concept using an inflatable ballistic cone.[https://books.google.com/books?id=yWUpAQAAIAAJ Analysis and design of space vehicle flight control systems, Volume 16: Abort], by A.L. Greensite, NASA, 1969, accessed 2010-05-25.{{cite web | url=http://www.astronautix.com/p/paracone.html | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161228013928/http://astronautix.com/p/paracone.html | url-status=dead | archive-date=December 28, 2016 | title=Paracone concept | publisher=Encyclopedia Astronautica | accessdate=January 4, 2012}}
A notable feature of the paracone concept is that it facilitates an abort throughout the entire flight profile.
