Paraisurus is an extinct genus of mackerel sharks that lived during the Cretaceous. It contains four valid species, which have been found in Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia.{{cite book |last=Cappetta |first=H. |date=2012 |title=Handbook of Paleoichthyology. Volume 3E. Chondrichthyes. Mesozoic and Cenozoic Elasmobranchii: Teeth. |location=Munich |publisher=Verlag Dr. Friedrich Pfeil |isbn=978-3-89937-148-2}} A fifth species, P. amudarjensis, is now considered a synonym of P. compressus.{{cite journal |last=Amalfitano |first=J. |date=2021 |title=Reappraisal of the record of the genus Paraisurus (Chondrichthyes; Lamniformes) from the Lower Cretaceous of northern Italy |journal=Bollettino della Società Paleontologica Italiana |volume=60 |issue=2 |pages=157–167 |doi=10.4435/BSPI.2021.07 |doi-broken-date=20 November 2024 }} While this genus is mostly known from isolated teeth, an associated dentition of P. compressus was found in the Weno Formation of Texas.{{cite book |last1=Welton |first1=B.J. |last2=Farish |first2=R.F. |date=1993 |title=The Collector's Guide to Fossil Sharks and Rays from the Cretaceous of Texas |location=Lewisville, TX |publisher=Before Time |url=http://mmtk.ginras.ru/pdf/Welton,Farish,1993_The%20Collector's%20Guide_Fossil%20Shark.pdf |isbn=0-9638394-0-3 }} It went extinct around the Albian-Cenomanian boundary, as a supposed Coniacian occurrence of "P. sp." is likely a misidentified pseudoscapanorhynchid.{{cite journal |last1=Siversson |first1=M. |last2=Machalski |first2=M. |date=2017 |title=Late late Albian (Early Cretaceous) shark teeth from Annopol, Poland |journal=Alcheringa |volume=41 |issue=4 |pages=433–463 |doi=10.1080/03115518.2017.1282981|bibcode=2017Alch...41..433S |s2cid=133123002 }}
