Description
Paraliparis abyssorum is maximum {{Cvt|11.3|cm}} long,{{Cite web|url=http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=127221#attributes|title=WoRMS - World Register of Marine Species - Paraliparis abyssorum Andriashev & Chernova, 1997|website=www.marinespecies.org}} and brown in colour. Its mouth is terminal (i.e. pointing straight forward) and small, with simple teeth.{{FishBase|Paraliparis|abtssorum|month=February|year=2023}}
Habitat
Paraliparis abyssorum lives in the northeast Atlantic Ocean, to the southwest of Ireland; it was first discovered off the Porcupine Bank.{{Cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=mShQAAAAYAAJ&q=%22Paraliparis+abyssorum%22|title=Journal of Ichthyology|date=September 4, 1997|publisher=Scripta Publishing Company|via=Google Books}} It lives in the bathydemersal zone, up to {{Cvt|3715|m}} deep, hence its specific name abyssorum ("of the depths").
Behaviour
Paraliparis abyssorum is a demersal spawner, meaning that it deposits eggs in a pre-prepared nest on or under the seafloor.
