Character
Although Parashor is a detective, his passion is poetry. Parashor never identifies himself as an investigator. The narrator of Parashor stories, Krittibas Bhadra, the editor of a magazine, is the friend of Parashor. According to Krittibas, Parashar is moody, jovial, little eccentric and a horrible poet, but a true genius.{{Cite book |last=Dey |first=Anindita |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=hYBTEAAAQBAJ&dq=Parashor+Barma&pg=PA173 |title=Sherlock Holmes, Byomkesh Bakshi, and Feluda: Negotiating the Center and the Periphery |date=2021-12-27 |publisher=Rowman & Littlefield |isbn=978-1-4985-1211-4 |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Bangla |first=Jiyo |date=28 November 2020 |title=কবিতা লিখতে লিখতে রহস্যের সমাধান করে ফেলেন এই 'অন্যরকম' গোয়েন্দা - জিয়ো বাংলা |url=https://www.jiyobangla.com/bn/news/bengali-fictional-detective-parashar-barma |access-date=13 March 2025 |website=JiyoBangla |language=Bengali}} Although his actions seem capricious and pointless to the reader (and even to Krittibas who often feels disgusted with his genius friend's caprices) at the beginning, he comes up with an unexpected solution at the end of each mystery. He can even solve a serious mystery while reading out his nonsense poems.{{Cite web|url=http://www.livemint.com/Leisure/LibY45l3PWg0B2DYI8SsCN/Calcutta-noir.html|title=Calcutta noir|last=Shamik Bag|website=livemint.com|access-date=4 June 2017}}
