Paroster caecus is blind beetle in the Hydroporini tribe of the subfamily Hydroporinae in the Dytiscidae family.{{Cite web |title=Australian Faunal Directory: Paroster caecus |url=https://biodiversity.org.au/afd/taxa/Paroster_caecus |access-date=2022-04-11 |website=biodiversity.org.au |language=en}} It was first described by Chris Watts in 1982 as Terradessus caecus.{{cite Q|Q111569627}} It was transferred to the genus, Paroster, in 2016 by Toussaint, Hendrich and others.{{cite Q|Q99966013}}
It is known only from the type locality, Mount Sorrow, Cape Tribulation in Queensland, where it has been found in rainforest.
