Patric Niederhauser (born 8 October 1991) is a professional racing driver from Switzerland and a current Porsche factory driver.

He was the champion of the Formula Abarth Italian Series in 2011 and competed in the GP3 Series before switching into GT racing, where a 2019 title in the ADAC GT Masters earned him a spot in the Audi factory lineup. After four years in the programme, Niederhauser switched to Porsche ahead of 2024.

Early career

=Karting=

Niederhauser began karting in 2006 and raced primarily in his native Switzerland for the majority of his career, working his way up from the junior ranks to progress through to the KF2 category by 2009, when he finished as runner-up in Swiss Karting Championship.{{cite web|url=http://www.acisportitalia.it/ABARTH_EU/profilo-pilota/18|title=PATRIC NIEDERHAUSER|publisher=Formula Abarth|access-date=31 October 2011}}

=Lower formulae=

In 2010, Niederhauser graduated to single–seaters, racing in the newly launched Formula Abarth series in Italy for Jenzer Motorsport. Race victory at Varano and another five podiums at the end of the season saw him finish as runner-up in the Italian series, Niederhauser remained in Formula Abarth for a second season in 2011, when the series split into the European and Italian series. He won the Italian Series title in clash with teammate (till Spa round) Sergey Sirotkin, taking six wins in fourteen races.{{cite web|url=http://www.acisportitalia.it/ABARTH_IT/home/ing/1551/Niederhauser-wins-in-Monza-and-is-the-new-Italian-Champion|title=NIEDERHAUSER WINS IN MONZA AND IS THE NEW ITALIAN CHAMPION|date=16 October 2011|publisher=Formula Abarth|access-date=31 October 2011}} In the European Series the Swiss driver finished as runner-up with five race victories, 37 points behind Sirotkin.{{cite news|url=http://www.acisportitalia.it/ABARTH_EU/home/ing/1601/Sirotkin-wins-race-one-in-Barcelona-and-gets-the-title|title=SIROTKIN WINS RACE ONE IN BARCELONA AND GETS THE TITLE|date=30 October 2011|publisher=Formula Abarth|access-date=31 October 2011}}

During 2010, Niederhauser also contested a single round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Middle European Championship at Dijon, finishing on the podium in both races.{{cite web|url=http://www.driverdb.com/standings/182-2010/|title=LO Formula Renault 2.0 Suisse 2010|publisher=Driver Database|access-date=31 October 2011}}

=GP3 Series=

In 2012, Niederhauser remained with Jenzer, moving into the GP3 Series.{{cite news|url=http://www.gp3series.com/News/2012/03_March/Jenzer-Motorsport-confirm-Niederhauser-for-2012/|title=Jenzer Motorsport confirm Niederhauser for 2012|date=3 March 2012|work=GP3 Series|publisher=GP2 Motorsport Limited|access-date=3 March 2012}} In his debut season, two wins helped the Swiss driver towards seventh in the standings. The following year, he returned to GP3 with Jenzer.{{cite news |date=26 January 2013 |title=Jenzer verlängert mit Patric Niederhauser |url=http://www.speedweek.de/art_32281.html |access-date=26 January 2013 |publisher=Speedweek.de |language=de}} The campaign proved to be less successful, as Niederhauser only scored two points finishes following a double podium at the opening round, thus ending up 13th in the standings.

In what would prove to be Niederhauser's final year in GP3, 2014 saw him switching over to Arden International. At the Hungaroring, Niederhauser broke his two-year long winless streak during the sprint race, and won again at Sochi to finish tenth overall.{{Cite web |last=Bradley |first=Charles |date=27 July 2014 |title=GP3 Hungary: Patric Niederhauser takes first win since 2012 |url=https://www.autosport.com/fia-f3/news/gp3-hungary-patric-niederhauser-takes-first-win-since-2012-5049761/5049761/ |website=autosport.com}}{{Cite web |last=Motorsport-Magazin.com |date=2014-10-13 |title=Niederhauser gewinnt in Sochi – GP3 |url=https://www.motorsport-magazin.com/gp3/news-202161-niederhauser-gewinnt-in-sochi/ |access-date=2024-05-24 |website=Motorsport-Magazin.com |language=de}}

Sportscar career

In 2016, Niederhauser made his sportscar debut, driving for Attempto Racing in the opening three rounds of the ADAC GT Masters.{{cite news |title=ADAC GT Masters Starterliste Oschersleben 2016 |url=http://www.adac-gt-masters.de/de/starterliste/ |access-date=13 April 2016 |work=ADAC GT Masters |publisher=ADAC}} He would also race for the team in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and GT Series Sprint Cup championships that year, collecting a best race finish of tenth in both series.{{cite web |date=25 February 2016 |title=Attempto Racing to field two Huracán GT3s in the Blancpain GT Series |url=http://www.blancpain-gt-series.com/news/643/attempto-racing-to-field-two-hurac%C3%A1n-gt3s-in-the-blancpain-gt-series?filter_season_id=6&filter_series_id=17&filter_text=&filter_team_news=0 |access-date=22 April 2016 |website=blancpain-gt-series.com |publisher=SRO Motorsports Group}}

For the following season, Niederhauser returned to GT Masters, this time partnering youngster Dennis Marschall at Aust Motorsport.{{cite news |title=Aust Motorsport announce high-calibre line-up |url=https://www.adac-gt-masters.de/uk/artikel/aust-motorsport-announce-high-calibre-line-up-markus-pommer-and-pierre-kaffer-sign-up-for-adac-gt-masters-235267 |access-date=13 April 2016 |work=ADAC GT Masters |publisher=ADAC}} The pair scored regular points finishes in the second half of the season, though that would only be enough for 21st in the drivers' championship. Niederhauser split his attention between Europe and Asia in 2018, competing for GruppeM Racing Team in the Blancpain GT Series Asia, where his first three wins in GT3 competition helped him towards third place in the standings, and the Silver Cup class of the Blancpain Endurance Cup, where he scored a single class podium.{{cite news |date=11 April 2018 |title=Blancpain GT Series Asia 2018 Rounds 1 & 2 – Sepang, Malaysia Provisional Entry List |url=http://vmail.vertouk.net/userfiles/sro/file/Blancpain%20GT%20Series%20Asia%20Provisional%20Entry%20List%20-%20Sepang%2011_04_18(1).pdf |access-date=11 April 2018 |website=blancpain-gt-series-asia.com |publisher=SRO Motorsports Group}}{{cite news |date=13 April 2018 |title=Impressive 54-car grid for Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup opener at Monza |url=https://www.blancpain-gt-series.com/news/1232/impressive-54-car-grid-for-blancpain-gt-series-endurance-cup-opener-at-monza- |access-date=13 April 2018 |website=blancpain-gt-series.com |publisher=SRO Motorsports Group}}{{Cite web |date=15 May 2018 |title=BLANCPAIN GT SERIES ASIA: PATRIC NIEDERHAUSER GEWINNT ZWEITES RENNEN |url=https://www.motorsport-xl.de/news/2018/Blancpain/Blancpain-GT-Series-Asia-Patric-Niederhauser-gewinnt-zweites-Rennen-31247.html |website=motorsport-xl.de}}
