Barron was educated at Leeds University“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 {{ISBN|0-7136-3457-X}} and (after studies at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield) ordained in 1939.Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941 He began his ordained ministry a curate at Our Most Holy Redeemer, Clerkenwell[http://www.rainbowinformation.com/hr/ Church website] after which he was a chaplain to the South African Army during World War II. After the war he held incumbencies at Zeerust, Potchefstroom and Blyvooruitzicht. Later he was Archdeacon of Germiston, then Dean of Johannesburg.
