Patrick James Stirling

He was born at Dunblane in 1809, the son of Mary Graham (d.1846) and her husband, Robert Stirling (1765-1817). He studied law at the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh.

In 1848 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, his proposer being James Haldane. He died on 23 March 1891.

In 1836 he married Katherine Murray (b.1806).
