The museum building is divided into three parts, which focuses on the development carried out for the people's benefit and the success attained by the State of Malacca: the Sports Gallery, Community Gallery and UNESCO section. In front of the building, there is a courtyard in which the transportation area is located and was established in collaboration with Malayan Railway, Royal Malaysian Air Force and West Malaysia Department of Civil Aviation. It formed a part of Taman Bunga Merdeka (Independent Flower Park), formerly known as Coronation Park, which was built by the British in 1953 to memorialise the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.{{cite web|url=http://amazingmelaka.com/2011/10/people-museum-malacc/|title=People Museum|work=AmazingMelaka.com|access-date=14 July 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150707174606/http://amazingmelaka.com/2011/10/people-museum-malacc/|archive-date=7 July 2015|url-status=dead}}{{cite web|url=http://www.perzim.gov.my/en/harga-tiket/|title=PERZIM - Harga Tiket|work=PERZIM}}{{cite web|url=https://www.malaysia-traveller.com/coronation-park-melaka.html |title=Coronation Park Melaka / Taman Bunga Merdeka |accessdate=26 March 2020}}
