File:Governor Portrait Filemon Perez.jpg

Perez is formerly a barrio named Sangirin, which was part of Mauban and later of Alabat in 1884. It was named as a token of gratitude to Filemon Perez, the former governor of the province then known as Tayabas who helped make this place an independent municipality in 1929.{{cite web|url=https://perezquezon.gov.ph/history-of-perez/|title=History|website=Perez, Quezon|access-date=May 5, 2022}}
