Starring Duda Mamberti and Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos, it shows the history of how Benjamin Abrahão befriended Lampião, the leader of the Cangaço, and filmed his crimes — a feat the Brazilian army was not able to accomplish.{{cite web | url=https://variety.com/1997/film/reviews/perfumed-ball-1117432671/ | title=Review: 'Perfumed Ball' | author=Young, Deborah | date=June 18, 1997 | work=Variety | accessdate=February 1, 2014}} It used footage taken in 1936 for Abrahão's 1959 film Lampião, o Rei do Cangaço.{{cite web | url=http://www.cinemateca.gov.br/cgi-bin/wxis.exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah/iah.xis&base=FILMOGRAFIA&lang=p&nextAction=lnk&exprSearch=ID=015142&format=detailed.pft#1 | title=Baile Perfumado | publisher=Cinemateca Brasileira | accessdate=February 1, 2014 | language=Portuguese | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160314234835/http://www.cinemateca.gov.br/cgi-bin/wxis.exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah%2Fiah.xis&base=FILMOGRAFIA&lang=p&nextAction=lnk&exprSearch=ID%3D015142&format=detailed.pft#1 | archive-date=March 14, 2016 | url-status=dead }}{{cite web | url=http://www.cinemateca.gov.br/cgi-bin/wxis.exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah/iah.xis&base=FILMOGRAFIA&lang=p&nextAction=lnk&exprSearch=ID=036862&format=detailed.pft#1 | title=Lampião, o Rei do Cangaço | publisher=Cinemateca Brasileira | accessdate=February 1, 2014 | language=Portuguese | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160314094329/http://www.cinemateca.gov.br/cgi-bin/wxis.exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah%2Fiah.xis&base=FILMOGRAFIA&lang=p&nextAction=lnk&exprSearch=ID%3D036862&format=detailed.pft#1 | archive-date=March 14, 2016 | url-status=dead }}
