He is from Kimberly, Idaho, and attended Kimberly High School. In 2019, he won the decathlon in the U18 category at the USA National Junior Olympic Championships. He is a Mormon and served in the Arizona Mesa and Mexico Cancún missions. His mother Shae, was an All-American pole vaulter and his father was a decathlete.
