Phenoxypropazine (trade name Drazine) is an irreversible and non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) of the hydrazine family. It was introduced as an antidepressant in 1961, but was subsequently withdrawn in 1966 due to hepatotoxicity concerns.{{cite journal | vauthors = LEAHY MR, ROSE JT, PLOWMAN R | title = A preliminary study of phenoxypropazine in the treatment of depression | journal = The American Journal of Psychiatry | volume = 119 | issue = 10| pages = 986–7 |date=April 1963 | pmid = 13928824 | doi = 10.1176/ajp.119.10.986 | url = http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/pmidlookup?view=long&pmid=13928824}}{{cite journal | author = IMLAH NW | title = Preliminary report on phenoxypropazine | journal = The American Journal of Psychiatry | volume = 119 | issue = 11| pages = 1091–2 |date=May 1963 | pmid = 13956423 | doi = 10.1176/ajp.119.11.1091 | url = http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/pmidlookup?view=long&pmid=13956423}}{{cite journal | vauthors = ROSE JT, LEAHY MR, PLOWMAN R | title = A comparison of phenoxypropazine and amitriptyline in depression | journal = The American Journal of Psychiatry | volume = 120 | issue = 4| pages = 393–5 |date=October 1963 | pmid = 14069469 | doi = 10.1176/ajp.120.4.393 | url = http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/pmidlookup?view=long&pmid=14069469}}{{cite journal | author = ROSE JT | title = Phenoxypropazine and chlordiazepoxide in depression | journal = The American Journal of Psychiatry | volume = 120 | issue = 9| pages = 899–900 |date=March 1964 | pmid = 14129290 | doi = 10.1176/ajp.120.9.899 | url = http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/pmidlookup?view=long&pmid=14129290}}{{cite journal | vauthors = MCWHINNEY IR, MORRELL DC | title = Treatment of mild endogenous depression with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor: a controlled trial in general practice | journal = The Journal of the College of General Practitioners | volume = 9 | pages = 95–9 |date=January 1965 | issue = 1 | pmid = 14254271 | pmc = 1878242 }}
