Phil Yannik Neumann (born 8 July 1997) is a German professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for 2. Bundesliga club Hannover 96.{{Soccerway|phil-neumann/359501}} He will join Birmingham City on 1 July after his contract with Hannover 96 expires.
Career
Phil Neumann was born in Herten in the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia and started with football at DJK SpVgg Herten, before he in 2005 in the age of seven the youth academy of FC Schalke 04.{{Cite web|url=https://www.waz.de/sport/fc-schalke-04/article407488758/an-hoewedes-kam-er-nicht-vorbei-neumann-gespannt-aufs-neue-schalke.html|title=An Höwedes kam er nicht vorbei: Neumann gespannt aufs neue Schalke|first=Christoph|last=Winkel|work=WAZ|date=17 October 2024|access-date=15 December 2024|language=de}} For the 2016–17 season, he promoted to the reserve team at fourth-tier Regionalliga West and made 15 appearances (one goal).
Afterwards, Neumann joined FC Ingolstadt 04, which relegated from Bundesliga. In his first year in Bavaria, him was not a regular player and the club from Ingolstadt finished on place 9. In the second year, FC Ingolstadt 04 was struggled and fought against the relegation to 3. Liga. The club achieved the relegation/promotion play-offs against SV Wehen Wiesbaden and did won 2–1 in the first-leg, but after a 2–3 defeat in the second-leg, the Bavarians were relegated to the third division. Phil Neumann was played in 20 matches and in both matches at relegation/promotion play-offs.

In the second year, Neumann achieved with the club from Kiel, the capital of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, the semi-final of German Cup and did sent-off Bayern Munich in the second round after penalty shoot-out. In the semi-final, Holstein Kiel was knocked-out by Borussia Dortmund. Phil Neumann did played only against the Dortmund-based. In the championship, Holstein Kiel was holds an automatic promotion spot for Bundesliga, but lost the last matches against Karlsruher SC and SV Darmstadt 98 and must going to the promotion/relegation play-offs against Cologne. Holstein Kiel was did won 1–0 in the first-leg, but lost 1–5 in the second-leg and missed the promotion to the top-flight of Germany. Holstein Kiel did struggled in the next season against the relegation to 3. Liga, but finished on the 9th place.
Afterwards, Neumann joined Hannover 96.
