Phineas Pett , D.D. Pett was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, matriculating in 1774, and graduating B.A. in 1778.{{alox2|title=Pett, Phineas}} He held livings at Orton on the Hill, Cropredy, Wentnor, Chilbolton and Newington, Oxfordshire.The Gentleman's Magazine, and Historical Chronicle, Volume 100, Part 1 pp657/8 He was Principal of St Mary Hall, Oxford[https://www.npg.org.uk/collections/search/person/mp125806/phineas-pett NPG] from 1801 until 1815.
