Piano six hands

{{Short description|Music for three pianists at one piano}}

Music described as piano six hands is for three pianists at one piano.{{Cite web | url=https://www.trinitycollege.com/qualifications/music/music-certificate-exams/groups | title=Group certificates | Trinity College London }} More rarely the neologism 'Triet' is used, by analogy with the duo/duet distinction sometimes made between 2 pianos and piano four hands (and also because piano trio is an already established term).{{cite web|url=http://www.colstonhall.org/shows/piano-triets|title=Piano Triets / Shows / Colston Hall|publisher=}}{{cite web|url=http://seenandheard-international.com/2012/04/piano-music-for-six-hands-the-shape-of-the-future|title=Piano Music for Six Hands; The Shape of the Future? : Seen and Heard International|publisher=}}Laura Shur: Tunes for Three (Novello & co.) Because of the limited range available to each player, many of the pieces written for this combination are elementary in nature; many more are arrangements of pieces for other forces. But there are a small number of original works, and a handful of virtuoso three-player groups have emerged in the 21st century.
