Pimelea mollis is a species of flowering plant in the family Thymelaeaceae and is endemic to southern Queensland. It is a shrub with hairy young stems, elliptic leaves and heads of 24 to 45 white, tube-shaped flowers.
Description
Pimelea mollis is a shrub that typically grows to a height of {{cvt|0.5–1|m}} and has hairy young stems, the hairs between {{cvt|1.8 and 2.6|mm}} long. The leaves are arranged more or less in opposite pairs, elliptic, {{cvt|32–49|mm}} long and {{cvt|11–17|mm}} wide, on a petiole {{cvt|1.5–2.2|mm}} long. Both surface of the leaves are sparsely to densely hairy. The flowers are borne in leaf axils in heads of 24 to 45 on a densely hairy rachis {{cvt|4–11|mm}} long, each flower on a pedicel {{cvt|0.7–1.1|mm}} long. The floral tube is {{cvt|5.5–7.2|mm}} long and white, the sepals {{cvt|1.3–1.7|mm}} long and densely hairy on the outside. Taxonomy
Pimelea mollis was first formally described in 2017 by Anthony Bean in the journal Austrobaileya from specimens he collected on the Callide Range near Biloela in 2009.{{cite web|title=Pimelea mollis|url= https://id.biodiversity.org.au/instance/apni/50005713 |publisher=APNI|access-date=23 February 2023}} The specific epithet (mollis) means "soft", referring to the hairs on the stems and leaves.
