The Pingshan power station is a large modern coal-fired power station in China. The power station is divided into two phases with phase one consisting of two 660 MW units, each with scrubbing systems and cooling towers.{{cite web|url=https://www.ngctransmission.com/en/m-news-detail/2020122502.html |title=NGC Facilitates Connection of New Ultra-Supercritical Double-Reheating Coal-fired Generator Set to the Grid - NGC Group - Geared for a Better Future |publisher=Ngctransmission.com |date=2020-12-25 |accessdate=2023-01-14}} Phase two has one ultra-supercritical secondary reheat unit with a 1350 MW capacity. This unit is one of the single largest coal units in the world; it also has the world's largest cooling tower with a height of 210 m (689 ft).{{cite web|url=https://www.hamon.com/cases-studies/largest-cooling-tower-in-the-world/#:~:text=Pingshan%20II%20is%20the%20largest,coal%20fired%20unit%20ever%20built |title=Pingshan II: the largest Cooling Tower in the world designed by Hamon |publisher=Hamon.com |date= |accessdate=2023-01-14}}
The engineering and design works for the power station were completed by East China Institute of Energy. The Phase 2 unit has a coal consumption rate of 251g/kWh.{{cite web|url=https://www.nsenergybusiness.com/projects/pingshan-thermal-power-plant-phase-two/ |title=Pingshan Thermal Power Plant Phase Two, Anhui Province, China |publisher=Nsenergybusiness.com |date= |accessdate=2023-01-14}}
