It is native to the Arunachal Pradesh of northern India, where it grows in a temperate climate within the Himalayan Mountain Range. Pinus ravii has a gray-white appearance with an abnormal structure compared to Pinus wallichiana (which it was originally listed as a synonym of{{Cite web |title=Pinus ravii R.C.Srivast. |url=https://www.gbif.org/species/8434842 |access-date=14 June 2023 |website=www.gbif.org |language=en}}). It also has longer, and more unique cones.{{cn|date=June 2023}}
