A pit boss (more commonly known today as the pit manager) is the person who directs the employees who work in a casino pit. The job of the pit boss is to manage the floormen, who are the supervisors for table games dealers in a casino.{{cite book |last1=Mill |first1=Robert Christie |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=BMqD6rIDMZcC |title=Resorts Management and Operation |publisher=Wiley |year=2008 |page=429 |isbn=978-0471747222 |accessdate=2022-10-17 }} One pit boss monitors all floormen, dealers, and players in the pit; there is usually one floorman for every six tables. The floormen correct minor mistakes, but if a severe gaming discrepancy arises (such as duplicate cards being found in a deck), it is the job of the pit boss to sort it out.{{cite web|title=Casino Pit Boss - What a Pit Boss Does|work=About.com Home |url=http://casinogambling.about.com/od/casinos101/a/Casino-Pit-Boss-Job.htm}}
