Pitbull's Globalization Radio is a Sirius XM Radio station playing current rhythmic/dance hits from around the globe. The channel, which is co-owned by American entertainer Pitbull and named after his 2014 album Globalization, was launched on May 19, 2015.[http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/latin-notas/6509697/pitbull-siriusxm-channel-globalization "Pitbull to Launch His Own SiriusXM Channel"] from Billboard (March 25, 2015)[http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/entertainment/celebrities_gossip/20150325_WENN_Pitbull_lands_his_own_radio_network.html "Pitbull lands his own radio network"] from Philly.com (March 25, 2015)
Details
The channel's concept was inspired by Pitbull's musical influences and his love for rhythmic, R&B, hip hop, dance/EDM, and dance/pop hits from international acts. The combination of these elements, along with Pitbull's musical catalog, mix shows, and live sets, make up the core basis of the format. The playlist and presentation serves as a bridge between the rhythmic pop-focused Venus and the dance-intensive BPM. The channel is a rhythmic reporter in Mediabase, which added the station to its panel in October 2015. In order to make room for the channel, Sirius XM moved the 40s On 4 to channel 73, re-launching as 40s Junction.[https://www.siriusxm.com/sxm/pdf/xm/channelguide.pdf SiriusXM channel lineup (2015)][http://www.dailynews.com/arts-and-entertainment/20150831/more-changes-at-krth-big-band-station-replaced-with-pitbulls-globalization "More changes at KRTH, big band station replaced with ‘Pitbull’s Globalization’"] from Los Angeles Daily News (August 31, 2015)
To help celebrate the launch, the artist kicked off the debut with a live show at New York City's Apollo Theater on May 19, 2015.[http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/latin/6561030/pitbull-endemol-new-series-masterclass-pitbull-presents "Pitbull to Launch Two New Original Series on Endemol Beyond Digital Network"] from Billboard (May 8, 2015)[http://perezhilton.com/2015-05-20-pitbull-siriusxm-station-globalization "Pitbull Launches His SiriusXM Channel, 'Globalization,' With Private Concert At The Apollo Theater"] from Perez Hilton (May 20, 2015)
