A place of authentication ({{langx|hu|hiteleshely}}; {{langx|la|locus credibilis}}) was a characteristic institution of medieval Hungarian law.{{sfn|Engel|2001|p=122}} Places of authentication were cathedral chapters and monasteries authorized to provide notarial services, including the issuing of authentic copies of documents.{{sfn|Rady|2000|p=70}}{{sfn|Engel|2001|p=123}}
