Platypygius is a genus of Palaearctic grasshoppers in the tribe Epacromiini, erected by Boris Uvarov in 1942.Uvarov BP (1942) New and less known southern Palaearctic Orthoptera. Transactions of the American Entomological Society 67(4): 337, 343 [1941]. The recorded distribution of species is the Iberian Peninsula though southern Europe to the Caucasus range (distribution may be incomplete).
