Hardware

PlayStation Camera has two 1280×800 pixel cameras with lenses having an f {{f/}}2.0, with a 30 cm focusing distance, and an 85° field of view. With the dual camera setup, the camera can operate at different modes, depending on the target application. The two cameras can be used together for the depth perception of objects in its field of vision, akin to the Xbox's Kinect peripheral. Alternatively, one of the cameras can be used for recording video, and the other for motion tracking.

The camera features a four-channel microphone array, which reduces background noise and may even be used to receive voice commands. It is {{convert|186| × |27| × |27|mm|in|abbr=on}} (width × height × depth), with a weight of {{convert|183|g|oz}}. It records video in RAW and YUV formats and connects to the console via its specified port.{{cite press release|url=http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130611a_e.pdf|title=PlayStation 4 (PS4) Design and Price Unveiled, Available at $399 in U.S. and at €399 in Europe|publisher=Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. |date=June 11, 2013|access-date=June 11, 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130613054228/http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130611a_e.pdf|archive-date=June 13, 2013}}{{cite press release|url=http://scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130611a_e.pdf|title=PLAYSTATION®4 (PS4™) DESIGN AND PRICE UNVEILED|publisher=Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc.|access-date=June 11, 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130613054226/http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130611a_e.pdf|archive-date=June 13, 2013|url-status=dead}}
