Poptaslot or Heringastate is a stins—a type of luxurious house often used by and/or built for the nobility of Frisia,{{Cite web|url=https://www.encyclo.nl/begrip/Stins|title=Encyclo}} many of which are built to look like castles (the term literally means "stone-house")—in the Dutch province of Friesland (Fryslân).{{Cite web|url=https://www.internetgemeentegids.nl/provincie/Friesland#Naam|title=Provincie Friesland|last=Jorritsma|first=Johannes|website=internetgemeentegids}} It was founded somewhere between 1512{{Cite web|url=https://poptaslot.nl/geschiedenis/|title=Geschiedenis|website=Poptaslot}} and 1525, probably by Sasker van Camstra.{{Cite news|url=https://marssum.info/poptaslot/|title=Marssum.info|work=Marssum.info|access-date=9 July 2019}} It was probably named Heringastate when it was founded, using his mother’s surname Heringa. Around 1631 it was significantly changed and modernised.

Its last inhabitant, Doctor Henricus Popta, declared that his house should never be lived in again{{Cite web|url=https://www.friesland.nl/nl/locaties/156283028/poptaslot-of-heringastate|title=POPTASLOT OF HERINGASTATE}} and should be preserved. Today slot guardians (Dutch: slotvoogden), of which four are currently active, still preserve the stins.
