|text=Philippe Chaperon's set design for the final act of Verdi's Rigoletto in an 1885 production at the Palais Garnier. The scene depicts the house of the assassin Sparafucile who has been paid by Rigoletto to kill the licentious Duke of Mantua who is seen sleeping in the upstairs room. In the end, it is not the Duke whom Sparafucile murders, but Rigoletto's daughter Gilda who disguised herself as a man.
