The Portland Wave, originally known as the Portland Mountain Cats, was a professional basketball team in the United States Basketball League (USBL) from 1996 to 1997. The team was based in Portland, Maine and played home games at Cumberland County Civic Center.{{cite web|title=History of the USBL|url=http://www.apbr.org/usbl.html|website=APBR.org|publisher=Association for Professional Basketball Research|accessdate=15 May 2018}} Jeff O'Sullivan, Guy Nadeau and Ted Goldsmith were the team's board of directors.{{cite news|title=Meisenheimer Capital announces addition of Portland Mountain Cats to the USBL|work=PR Newswire|date=November 9, 1995}} In 1996, Mark McClure served as the team's president.
