Portrait of Amelia Opie is an oil on canvas portrait painting by the British artist John Opie depicting his wife Amelia Opie, a noted writer and abolitionist. It was created in 1798.Bray p.118 It was painted the year the couple married.Walker p.376-77 The Cornish-born John Opie was a noted portraitist of the late Georgian era. After his death in 1807 Amelia became a quaker known for her role in good causes.
