Pousargues's mongoose (Dologale dybowskii), also known as the African tropical savannah mongoose, is a mongoose native to Central Africa. It is listed as data deficient on the IUCN Red List as little is known about its distribution and ecology. It is the only species in the genus Dologale.
Up to the late 20th century, it was known from only around 30 zoological specimens in natural history museum collections.{{cite book |author=Schreiber, A. |author2=Wirth, R. |author3=Riffel, M. |author4=Van Rompaey, H. |name-list-style=amp |year=1989 |title=Weasels, civets, mongooses, and their relatives. In 1893, Eugène de Pousargues first described the Pousargues's mongoose on the basis of zoological specimens collected in 1892 near the Kémo River. The type locality corresponds to the former French garrison founded by the Dybowski Mission close to the settlement of Fort de Possel. It is named in honor of Jean Dybowski who collected the specimens. It was initially subordinated to the genus Crossarchus,{{Cite journal |last=de Pousargues |first=E. A genetic study focused on Carnivora highlighted the Pousargues's mongoose to be the sister-species of the genus Helogale.{{Cite journal|last1=Nyakatura|first1=K. |last2=Bininda-Emonds |first2=O. R. Distribution and habitat
The Pousargues's mongoose ranges from northern Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Central African Republic to western Uganda.
Mongooses sighted and recorded by a camera-trap in 2011 and 2012 in the Central African Republic were preliminarily identified as Pousargues's mongoose.{{cite journal |author=Aebischer, T. |author2=Hickisch, R. |author3=Klimek, M. |author4=Parkison, A. |name-list-style=amp |year=2013 |title=Probable records of Pousargues's Mongoose Dologale dybowskii in the Chinko/Mbari drainage basin, Central African Republic |journal=Small Carnivore Conservation |issue=48 |pages=101–103 |url=http://nebula.wsimg.com/7775bcf13714c30c66fd18e1e2a69aa6?AccessKeyId=35E369A09ED705622D78&disposition=0&alloworigin=1}}
In 2013, a group of Pousargues's mongooses was observed near Lake Albert in Uganda's Semliki Wildlife Reserve.{{cite journal |author=Woolgar, J. |year=2014 |title=A confirmed sighting of Pousargues's Mongoose Dologale dybowskii |journal=Small Carnivore Conservation |issue=51 |pages=1–3 |url=http://www.mammalwatching.com/Afrotropical/other%20reports/JW%20Pousargues%20Mongoose%202014.pdf}}
