Prasoxylon excelsum is a tree in the family Meliaceae. The specific epithet {{lang|la|excelsum}} is from the Latin meaning 'tall'.

Description

The tree grows up to {{convert|36|m|-1}} tall with a trunk diameter of up to {{convert|80|cm|0}}. The sweetly scented flowers are cream-coloured or pinkish white. The fruits are brown when ripe, roundish to pear-shaped and measure up to {{convert|5|cm|in|0|abbr=on}} in diameter.

Distribution and habitat

Prasoxylon excelsum is found in Sri Lanka, Nepal, northeast India, southern China, Indochina, and throughout Malesia and Papuasia. Its habitat is rain forest from sea-level to {{convert|1000|m|-3}} elevation.
