Preemraff Lysekil is an oil refinery located at Brofjorden near the Swedish city of Lysekil.

Production

Originally named Scanraff, the refinery was taken into use in 1975. The site was selected because of its excellent natural harbour, and the facility can accept supertankers up to {{DWT|500,000|metric|disp=long}}.{{cite web|last1=Spetsmark|first1=Ingvar|title=De har jobbat alla 40 år på Preemraff|trans-title=They have worked for Preemraff for 40 years|url=http://bohuslaningen.se/nyheter/lysekil/1.3837162-de-har-jobbat-alla-40-ar-pa-preemraff|website=www.bohuslaningen.se|publisher=Bohusläningen|date=14 March 2015|access-date=15 June 2015}} In 2003, the facility was acquired by Preem.{{cite web|title=Besök på Preemraff Göteborg|trans-title=A visit to Preemraff Gothenburg|url=http://industrihistoriaivast.net/onewebmedia/preem_anteckningar.pdf|website=www.industrihistoriaivast.net|publisher=Industrihistoria i Väst|access-date=15 June 2015}} Refined products are mainly transported from Preemraff Lysekil using tanker ships. There is no rail connection and the road connections are poor.

Preem is the largest supplier of petroleum products in Sweden and its two refineries, Preemraff Göteborg in Gothenburg, and Preemraff Lysekil in Lysekil represent 80 percent of Sweden's refining capacity.{{cite web|last1=Johansson|first1=Liselotte|title=Nya chefer tar över på Preem|trans-title=New directors at Preem|url=http://bohuslaningen.se/nyheter/lysekil/1.1547309-nya-chefer-tar-over-pa-preem|website=www.bohuslaningen.se|publisher=Bohusläningen|date=2 March 2012|access-date=15 June 2015}} The annual capacity of Preemraff Lysekil is around 11 million metric tons of crude oil.{{cite web|last1=Nohrstedt|first1=Linda|title=Preem styr upp raffinaderiet i Lysekil|url=http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/automation/styrsystem/article3794806.ece|website=www.nyteknik.se|publisher=Ny Teknik|date=18 December 2013|access-date=15 June 2015}}

The highly visible flares, towers and chimneys also makes the refinery a navigation mark for vessels entering Brofjorden. The two highest chimneys are {{convert|165|m|ft|abbr=on}} tall.{{cite book|author-link1=National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency|last1=NIMA|title=Pub193, 2004 Sailing Directions (Enroute): Skaggerat and Kattegat|date=2004|publisher=ProStar Publications|isbn=1577855655|page=66|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=llo0hZiw9JQC}}
