Reception

A critic from Sify wrote that "Director S.Mahender has nothing new to offer story wise and could have stuck to village based films that he is famous for".{{cite web|url=http://www.sify.com/movies/preethigagi-review-kannada-14412153.html |date= 19 March 2007|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180528133911/http://www.sify.com/movies/preethigagi-review-kannada-pclwmKgjaidij.html |url-status=dead |archive-date=28 May 2018 |title=Movie Review : Preethigagi |website=Sify |accessdate=16 June 2014}} A critic from Rediff.com wrote that "Preethigaagi is enjoyable for those who haven't seen the original".{{cite web|url=http://www.rediff.com/movies/2007/mar/20sspreethi.htm |title=Review: Preethigaagi is yet another remake |work=Rediff.com |date=20 March 2007|first=R. G.|last=Vijayasarathy|accessdate=16 June 2014}} Chitraloka wrote "Though the film starts of slowly it generates pace midway. And from the sequences leading to the climax to the last scene, it is certainly the best part of the narration in the film. And the beauty of the film is though the film has a youthful love story, it has most of the character artists who have equal opportunities to perform. Therefore the film looks consistently good after the film gathers pace. Once the pressure builds up, then the film becomes the toast of the audience".{{cite web|url=http://www.chitraloka.com/sections/how_is_it/2007/preethigagi.shtml|date=17 March 2007|access-date=6 November 2024|title=Film Review: PREETHIGAGI|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080423230715/http://www.chitraloka.com/sections/how_is_it/2007/preethigagi.shtml|archive-date=23 April 2008}}
