Provisions
= Short title, commencement and extent =
Section 55(1) of the act provided that the act may be cited as the Prison Act, 1952.{{Cite legislation UK|type=act|year=Geo6and1Eliz2/15-16|chapter=52|act=Prison Act 1952}}
Section 55(2) of the act provided that the act would come into force on 1 October 1952.
Section 55(3) and 55(4) of the act provided that the act would not extend to Scotland except for sections 22, 48(1), 48(3), 48(5), 48(6) and 49 of, the second schedule to, and part 1 of the fourth schedule to, the act.
Section 55(5) provided that the act would not extend to Northern Ireland.
