History

Proflight Air Services was founded in 1991 by pilot Tony Irwin, formerly of Zambia Airways.{{cite web|website=Proflight Zambia|title=About Us|url=http://www.proflight-zambia.com/content/aboutus/introduction/|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20131022135950/http://proflight-zambia.com/content/aboutus/introduction/|archivedate=2013-10-22}} On 30 June 2009 the airline was authorized by the Zambia Competition Commission to form an alliance with Zambezi Airlines.{{cite web|url = http://www.daily-mail.co.zm/media/news/viewnews.cgi?category=16&id=1246608884|title = ZCC approves Zambezi Airlines, Proflight alliance|accessdate = 20 July 2010|last = Mwale|first = Cynthia|authorlink = |year = 2005}}{{dead link|date=April 2018 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} The airline was officially rebranded as Proflight Zambia in 2010.

In March 2013 Proflight took delivery of its first jet aircraft, a Boeing 737-200, and later in 2013 began regional scheduled service to Lilongwe and Dar es Salaam.{{cite web |url=http://daily-mail.co.zm/blog/2013/05/20/proflights-new-bird-to-boost-tourism/ |title=Proflight's new 'bird' to boost tourism | Zambia Daily Mail |website=daily-mail.co.zm |access-date=17 January 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131031091446/http://daily-mail.co.zm/blog/2013/05/20/proflights-new-bird-to-boost-tourism/ |archive-date=31 October 2013 |url-status=dead}} although the Boeing was returned to the lessor, Star Air Cargo, in 2014.
