{{Short description|Written term or condition used in a solicitation}}

In United States government contracting, a provision or solicitation provision is a written term or condition used in a solicitation. A solicitation provision applies only before a contract is awarded to a vendor.[https://web.archive.org/web/20111006071135/http://cfr.vlex.com/vid/2-101-definitions-19869809 Title 48, Federal Acquisition Regulations System; Chapter 1, Federal Acquisition Regulation; Subchapter A, General; Part 2, Definitions of Words and Terms; Subpart 2.1, Definitions], accessed 28 October 2021 This distinguishes provisions from clauses, which apply after contracts are awarded (and possibly before).
