Punyakoti is an adaptation of a picture book for children written by Ravishankar,{{cite web|title=First Sanskrit animation movie to crowd-source content|url=http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/first-sanskrit-animation-movie-to-crowdsource-content/article6608836.ece|publisher=thehindu|date=2014-11-18|accessdate=2015-06-18}} was produced through crowdsourcing and it is the first Sanskrit animated film. The film got certified from Central Board of Film Certification on 18 March 2020, but its theatrical release was halted due to Corona pandemic.
