In his memory Rajabhau Natu, a stalwart of experimental theatre, suggested to organize an inter-collegiate one-act play competition. Thus Purushottam Karandak was started in 1963.{{cite web|url=https://punemirror.indiatimes.com/pune/cover-story/Purushottam-shaped-them/articleshow/32286247.cms|title=Purushottam shaped them|date=6 September 2010|website=Pune Mirror|access-date=9 May 2019}}
