Etymology

The name is derived from the Old Czech name Pustimír and its diminutive form Pustek. By adding the possessive suffix -ovec, it became Pustkovec, meaning "Pustek's settlement".{{Cite web |title=Základní informace|url=https://pustkovec.cz/zakladni-informace/|website=pustkovec.cz|date=2023-09-13|access-date=2025-07-09 |language=cs}}
