It is a large forest tree up to {{Convert|20|m|abbr=off}} tall with a trunk often more than {{Convert|60|cm|abbr=off}} in diameter. The leaves are as much as {{Convert|27|cm|abbr=on}} long.Trelease, William (1924). Memoirs of the National Academy of Sciences 20: 136.
