Company
The company was founded in 2014 in Los Angeles, California by Eric Rice. Rice came up with the inspiration for the car in 2012, by drawing an early version of the car which looked like a jet fighter fuselage. This encouraged him to build the car. He started with the chassis production and brought on other engineers and designers to help. For their first model they came up with name Tachyon, which is a hypothetical particle that always travels faster than light. The word tachyon comes from the Greek word "tachus," which means "fast."{{Cite web|date=2021-08-09|title=Here's Everything We Know About The Tachyon Speed|url=https://www.hotcars.com/tachyon-speed-everything-know/|access-date=2022-02-05|website=HotCars}}
In 2017, RAESR completed production of their first prototype, the Tachyon Speed,{{Cite web|url=https://electrek.co/2017/11/13/all-electric-hypercar-raesr-tachyon-speed/|title=A new all-electric hypercar sets out to break some speed records|last=Lambert|first=Fred|date=2017-11-13|website=Electrek|access-date=2019-05-30}} and started working on their first production model.{{cite web|url=https://infinitybox.com/cars/tachyon-speed/|title=Tachyon Speed|date=October 3, 2017|publisher=Infinitybox LLC}}{{cite web|url=https://carbuzz.com/news/the-tachyon-speed-is-an-extreme-electric-hypercar-with-1-250-hp|title=Here's the 1,250-hp 240-mph Tachyon Speed EV hypercar from RAESR|date=November 10, 2017|publisher=Carbuzz}}
