RAF Bacton is a former Royal Air Force landing field, built to accommodate aircraft intercepting Zeppelin bombers during the First World War.

History

A unit to use Bacton was a detachment of No. 219 Squadron RAF between 22 July 1918 and March 1919 with various aircraft{{sfn|Jefford|1988|p=72}} along with No. 470 (Fighter) Flight.{{cite web|url=http://www.abct.org.uk/airfields/airfield-finder/bacton/ |title=Bacton |publisher=Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust|accessdate=12 April 2020}}

A hangar from RAF Bacton was relocated to North Walsham after the closure of the airfield, where it became a garage workshop. This building was damaged in high winds,[http://www.abct.org.uk/page_1949.html Airfields of Britain, Current Events] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081011022537/http://www.abct.org.uk/page_1949.html |date=11 October 2008 }} but an attempt to save the roof failed to salvage the structure, which was demolished in April 2007.[http://new.edp24.co.uk/content/news/storyrss.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=News&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=News&itemid=NOED14%20Apr%202007%2011%3A26%3A36%3A813 Eastern Daily Press, Airfield enthusiasts fail to save hangar]
