ROBUSTA-1B (Radiation on Bipolar Test for University Satellite Application) is a nano-satellite (Cubesat) scientific experiment developed by the University of Montpellier students, a successor to the ROBUSTA satellite, which was launched in February 2012 and lost soon after.{{cite web |url=http://www.ies.univ-montp2.fr/robusta/satellite/ |title=ROBUSTA satellite |website=www.ies.univ-montp2.fr |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130814173904/http://www.ies.univ-montp2.fr/robusta/satellite/ |archive-date=2013-08-14}}
ROBUSTA-1B carries an updated version of the ROBUSTA payload, an experiment to check the deterioration of electronic components based on bipolar transistors, when exposed to in-flight space radiation. The results of the experiment will be used to validate a new radiation test method proposed by the laboratory.{{cite journal|doi=10.1109/TNS.2009.2033686|title=The Use of a Dose-Rate Switching Technique to Characterize Bipolar Devices|year=2009|bibcode = 2009ITNS...56.3347B |last1=Boch|first1=Jérôme|last2=Gonzalez Velo|first2=Yago|last3=Saigne|first3=Frédéric|last4=Roche|first4=Nicolas J.-H.|last5=Schrimpf|first5=Ronald D.|last6=Vaille|first6=Jean-Roch|last7=Dusseau|first7=Laurent|last8=Chatry|first8=Christian|last9=Lorfevre|first9=Eric|last10=Ecoffet|first10=Robert|last11=Touboul|first11=Antoine D.|journal=IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science|volume=56|issue=6|pages=3347–3353|s2cid=20001729}}
ROBUSTA Comparison
Started as a simple reflight of ROBUSTA,{{Cite web|url=https://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/robusta.htm|title=ROBUSTA 1, 1B|website=Gunter's Space Page|access-date=2021-10-05|archive-date=2021-06-27|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210627215756/https://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/robusta.htm|url-status=live}} the project quickly became a complete upgrade of most of the satellite's systems, using the feedback provided by the previous project.{{Cite web |url=https://janus.cnes.fr/fr/JANUS/Fr/robusta-1b.htm |title=NANOSATELLITE ROBUSTA 1B |date=15 December 2015 |website=janus.cnes.fr |access-date=2017-08-18 |archive-date=2017-08-18 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170818133955/https://janus.cnes.fr/fr/JANUS/Fr/robusta-1b.htm |url-status=dead }}
