Founded in 1996, it is published four times a year by the Rail Transport Scientific and Engineering Institute, a branch of JSC Ukrainian Railways ("Ukrzaliznytsia"). Articles are published in the original language. General information
The journal Railway Transport of Ukraine has been published since May 1996 (registration certificate KV No. 1429 dated 10 May 1995). The founder of the publication is the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine, whose legal successor is Joint Stock Company "Ukrainian Railways" (JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia"). The journal is published by the Research and Design and Technological Institute of Railway Transport (NDKTI), a branch of the JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia". The previous publisher was the editorial office of the newspaper Maghistral ({{langx|uk|Магістраль}}).
According to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 11 July 2019 No. 975, the publication is included in the List of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine, which may publish the results of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. The articles published in the journal Railway Transport of Ukraine are included in the national abstract database "{{ill|Ukrajinika naukova|uk|Україніка наукова}}" and the search engine Google Scholar.
The editor-in-chief of the publication is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor {{ill|Serhiy Vitaliyovych Myamlin|uk|Мямлін Сергій Віталійович}}.
