Biography

Rasha Samir was born on 1st January in Cairo, Egypt. She holds an M.A. in dental surgery from Cairo University. Samir's novel ‘Jawary El Ishq’ caught the attention of MBC group which contracted with Samir to own the copyright of the novel to turn it into a television series. ‘Jawary El Ishq’ is a historical novel addresses women's freedom by talking about three women of different historical periods: ‘Qamer’, a concubine belongs to Mamluk period, ‘Mahishid’ who belongs to the 70s, and ‘Isil’ who belongs to the current period, particularly after the Egyptian revolution of 2011.

Samir writes both short stories and novels. So far, she has published six-story collections including ‘Mabd Al Hob’ and four novels including ‘Lil Qalb Marsa Akhar’ which was published in 2020. Samir writes in various styles. Aside from her literary works, she has been publishing a weekly column for ten years in ‘Al-fajr’ newspaper. She also used to publish in ‘Sout Al Omma Newspaper’, ‘Nahdet Misr Newspaper’, and in ‘Sabah El Kheir Magazine’.
