Career
Razmig Mavlian began his career primarily as an animator at LucasArts, working on a variety of games. He was an artist and animator there for six years, before leaving LucasArts for Double Fine Productions.
At Double Fine, he began as artist and animator on Psychonauts. Creative Director Tim Schafer named the game's protagonist Raz, after the nickname of Mavlian. Mavlian started two webcomics called Epic Saga and Happy Funnies, which were created as part of Double Fine Comics. During the production of Brütal Legend, Double Fine's webmaster, Klint Honeychurch, created a flash game based on Epic Saga, called Epic Saga: Extreme Fighter with artwork by Mavlian.{{cite magazine |url=https://www.wired.com/gamelife/2010/08/costume-quest/ |title=Next Up For Double Fine: Halloween RPG Costume Quest |first=Gus |last=Mastrapa |date=August 11, 2010 |magazine=Wired |access-date=February 27, 2012 |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110912220818/https://www.wired.com/gamelife/2010/08/costume-quest/ |archive-date=September 12, 2011}} Razmig Mavlian wrote all the jokes for it too, including how it ends.
He composed the music for the next two flash games by Double Fine, My Game About Me: Olympic Challenge and Tasha's Game. The soundtracks for these games were released as an online compilation, along with the music from Double Fine's other flash game, Host Master and the Conquest of Humor, and bonus tracks consisting of 1990's sound chip renditions of Psychonauts songs.{{cite web |title=Double Fine Action Arcade Soundtrack Contains All Your Flash Favorites |url=http://www.mixnmojo.com/news/Double-Fine-Action-Arcade-Soundtrack-Contains-All-Your-Flash-Favorites |date=February 28, 2012 |website=The International House of Mojo |access-date=February 28, 2012 |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120304083341/http://www.mixnmojo.com/news/Double-Fine-Action-Arcade-Soundtrack-Contains-All-Your-Flash-Favorites |archive-date=March 4, 2012}} The Double Fine Action Arcade Soundtrack compilation was released on iTunes{{cite web |title=Double Fine Action Arcade Soundtrack collects Flash game hits |url=http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/30/double-fine-action-arcade-soundtrack-collects-flash-game-hits/ |last=Fletcher |first=JC |date=August 30, 2011 |website=Joystiq |access-date=March 27, 2012 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120322101906/http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/30/double-fine-action-arcade-soundtrack-collects-flash-game-hits/ |archive-date=March 22, 2012}}{{cite web |title=Double Fine Action Arcade Compiles Developer's Flash Game Soundtracks |url=http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2011/08/double_fine_action_arcade_soun.php |last=Cowan |first=Danny |date=August 31, 2011 |website=GameSetWatch |access-date=March 27, 2012 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150419151231/http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2011/08/double_fine_action_arcade_soun.php |archive-date=April 19, 2015}} and eMusic.

Recognition
Epic Saga: Extreme Fighter had nothing to do with Brütal Legend. The misunderstanding came from being publicized roughly at the same time as Brütal Legend. Due to this association with Brütal Legend, Epic Saga: Extreme Fighter received more attention than usual for a free online flash game. The press release of Epic Saga: Extreme Fighter satirized the rumors of the at-the-time unannounced Brütal Legend,{{cite web |title=No Double Fine Announcement...Yet |url=http://www.1up.com/news/2007-double-fine-announcementyet |website=1UP.com |access-date=February 28, 2012 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140303082643/http://www.1up.com/news/2007-double-fine-announcementyet |archive-date=March 3, 2014}} stating that the game starred a "barbaric hero in an epic fantasy world, fighting his way from Rock and Roll Hell to Rock and Roll Heaven".{{cite web |title=Double Fine Announces New Game...Sort of |url=http://www.1up.com/news/double-fine-announces-gamesort |last=Pigna |first=Kris |date=September 7, 2007 |website=1UP.com |access-date=February 28, 2012 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140202170724/http://www.1up.com/news/double-fine-announces-gamesort |archive-date=February 2, 2014}}
