History

In 1984, among the four initial private television stations that were being set up, one of the stations was set up in Cochabamba, Cochabambina de Televisión, on channel 9. The station had a strong local character, similar to Paceña de Televisión{{cite web |title="NORMATIVA LEGAL DE DIFUSIÓN DE LOS PROGRAMAS ENLATADOS DE MEDIOS DE COMUNICACIÓN Y SU IMPACTO SOBRE EL COMPORTAMIENTO DE LA POBLACIÓN INFANTIL EN BOLIVIA"|url=https://repositorio.umsa.bo/xmlui/bitstream/handle/123456789/13822/TD-3864.pdf?sequence=1 |access-date=5 February 2024 |website=International Media Support |date=2011 |archive-url=http://web.archive.org/web/20240205115340/https://repositorio.umsa.bo/xmlui/bitstream/handle/123456789/13822/TD-3864.pdf?sequence=1 |archive-date=5 February 2024 |language=es}} In this context it starts affiliating itself with ATB and formed Red Tricolor in time for the 1985 general elections.Fátima Quinteros, La televisión privada en Bolivia, Universidad Privada San Francisco de Asis On September 10, 1987, the government legalized the station; the owner at the time being John William Block Bonetta. At the same time, the affiliation it had with ATB was broken, as Illimani de Comunicaciones applied for a TV station in the city (channel 4).{{cite web |title=Resolucion Suprema: 202882 |url=http://www.gacetaoficialdebolivia.gob.bo/resolucions/listadonor/page:562 |website=Gaceta Oficial del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia |language=es}}

At an unknown date, presumably in the late 1990s, Cochabambina de Televisión moved from channel 9 to channel 21. This enabled Red Uno to broadcast locally on channel 9.{{cite news |title=Mauricio Noya, el "Señor de la TV" que pudo ser alcalde |url=https://lapalanca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/ENTRETECLAS-NO-6-SIRENA.pdf |work=Entre Teclas |date=August 2015 |page=51 |language=es |format=pdf}}
